Manual chiropractic manipulative treatment is a highly specialized approach utilized by our team of doctors. Utilizing their hands, they may apply a gentle force to a joint that is not moving properly allowing an improved range of motion resulting in a decrease in pain. Joint restrictions can lead to complicated degenerative changes that produce significant pain. Our team of physicians specializes in research driven approaches to joint mobilizations and manipulations that specifically target the cause of pain or dysfunction in a gentle, pain free approach. A few of these approaches are listed below.
Diversified technique is one of the most commonly utilized techniques by Chiropractic physicians. It is highly effective and specific in diagnosing and correcting joint mobility restrictions. Utilizing the hands, a gentle and fast pressure is applied to the joint to create motion. Many times, a “clicking” noise may be heard. Research demonstrates that this “clicking” noise is simply pressure being released from the joint fluid. The pressure is released in the form of gases (ie Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen). With this notable decrease in pressure, the joint experiences an increase in the range of motion resulting in a decrease in pain.
Flexion/Distraction/Decompression Therapy Is a spinal manipulative technique that distracts and flexes the spine to increase spinal motion within the individual spinal joints. This is a highly effective treatment option that treats and helps resolve disc herniations and the associated muscle spasms. Many patients that receive this preferred technique mention that they can feel pain centralize to the point of origin as they heal. In fact, many studies have demonstrated the significant decrease in intradiscal pressure. This change in pressure helps provide the disc matrix with water and nutrients to promote cellular repair. This technique has been linked to reduce pain attributed to:
- Disc herniations
- A slipped disc
- A ruptured disc
- Facet syndrome
- Stenosis
- Spondylolisthesis
The Thompson technique utilizes a “segmental drop table” to enhance the motion force imparted toward the area to be manipulated. Using this drop table helps focus the impulse to the desired tissues with a significant decrease in force being applied. This is a very gentle approach to sensitive tissues while still achieving restoration of proper joint mobility and reduce pain-causing inflammation. Benefits include:
- Improved flexibility
- Improved strength
- Better resistance to body injury
- Improved Posture, performance and sleep
- Better stress tolerance
- Fewer aches and pains
Gonstead Technique is a method used to relieve misalignment within the vertebrae by using basic biomechanical principles of physics.
Activator Method is a chiropractic technique and diagnostic system to treat back and neck pain, as well as chronic and migraine headaches. The method utilizes a small, hand-held instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument to provide a small impulse force to the spine. This force restores motion to the targeted area. This is a preferred method for many of our geriatric population that has significant mobility restrictions resulting from arthritic changes.
